Why a Microfiber Flat Mop Might Be Your Best Floor Care Option

I'm always seeking for new ways to clean things as a professional cleaner. I aim to stay current with technology advancements so that I can clean more effectively and efficiently.

In the cleaning sector, there has been a significant transition away from natural fibres and toward synthetic fibres in recent years. My cotton terry cleaning cloths have been replaced with microfiber cleaning cloths, and the results have been wonderful. And I'm nearly entirely converting to microfiber for mopping now as well.

I am constantly experimenting with different tools and approaches because I am quite fastidious when it comes to cleaning (both in terms of quality and efficiency). Because floor washing is such an important part of the cleaning process (the floors always get the most positive and negative feedback), I experimented with a variety of mopping solutions.

The sponge mops were lightweight and portable, but they were ineffective when it came to thoroughly cleaning the floors. The sponge head simply isn't adequate to the task of taking up dirt. The string mops are another option. These can hold a lot more dirt, but they are difficult to wring out and must be hung up to dry, which is cumbersome. Keep in mind that I still use string mops for certain tasks, although they are inconvenient for little jobs. Cleaning bathrooms and break rooms at offices, as well as someone's kitchen floor, does not necessitate carrying a mop bucket and wringer about.

The string mop also has the issue of leaving floors too damp. This isn't an issue with tile in commercial buildings, but it is with hardwood floors and other surfaces that are more susceptible to moisture. String mops (and sponge mops) have a number of disadvantages, one of which is their lack of hygiene. These mops can be a breeding ground for bacteria and even mold spores.

All of these issues are eliminated with the microfiber mopping technology. There are, however, a few secrets to mopping well. Using a spray bottle will not adequately saturate the microfiber head, and you may find it difficult to move the mop around once it has dried. Also, if you use a spray bottle, you might use too much cleaning.

Fill a five gallon bucket three-quarters full of warm water, then add your floor cleaner to it. Submerge the microfibrer head in this solution after removing it. Put it back on your mop after wringing it out with your hands. Start mopping until the mop feels dry, then re-submerge and wring it out.

If you're cleaning a medical facility (or just want to up the ante on sanitation), you might want to use this method instead: Place several mop heads in a bucket with your water and cleanser and roll them up into tubes. One by one, remove clean new heads from the bucket, wring them out, and use them on the floor. Place them in a separate container when they become dry and/or soiled. As a result, your cleaning solution will not come into contact with filthy heads. Much more hygienic than a string mop!
